When placed in a mental health care institution, the guards and personnel of the institution must treat you humanely and with respect.

This means that they must not treat you in an inhumane or degrading way. For example, they must not abuse you or use excessive physical force against you. You have the right to humane conditions in the place where you are staying, medical help, as well as communication with the outside world.

About this section

This section will explain the type of treatment and conditions which should be provided and when an absence of these could lead to a violation of your human rights.
